While aerobic conditioning, flexibility and strength training are all important for our general health and fitness, very often they do not provide the specific prescriptive direction for aging bodies, bodies prone to injury and/or pain or those for whom accompanying educational & instructional tools are very often necessary.
During a Mindful Integrative Movement (MIM) consultation we will consider issues such as past injuries, sub-optimal movement patterns related to occupations and hobbies, and postural deviations, as we develop a program of functional exercises uniquely designed for each individual.
MIM sessions are intended to emphasize optimal movement awareness, education and instruction for safe and effective strength conditioning, joint mobility & stabilization, postural correction and balance. To increase one’s body & kinesthetic awareness, very much a part of the body’s innate function, is to help to avoid further injury, pain or limitation of activity.
Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT)
Neuromuscular Therapy is a manual soft tissue therapy performed for the purpose of alleviating chronic pain, improving mobility, correcting postural imbalances and enhancing overall performance.
This modality, intended to get at the root of the problem as opposed to treating the symptoms, uses massage techniques to increase circulation to tight, tender muscles, reduce referred pain from trigger points or nerve entrapments, as well as restore muscle imbalance and postural alignment.
Self care suggestions may be given to continue the progress at home.
